The BackRoads Home Decor Story
BackRoads Home Decor was founded in August of 2019, but really had been an idea that began in the hearts of its founders long before that.
Pam is the owner of Turnipseed Home Decor. It is a specialty business that focuses on reclaimed, repainted, or reloved furniture and home decor. One of her biggest passions is helping others to curate a home that they love and expresses them and their family. Creating heritage-quality pieces that can help write the story of your home is at the heart of everything that Pam does, and she has been so thankful for the opportunity to co-own BackRoads Home Decor and accomplish that on a bigger level!
Janice is the owner of Vintage Flyswatter, a long-running business that has specialized in curating antiques and collectibles from all walks of life and all different cultures. She loves to find pieces that paint a picture of times past, and help others to find ways to repurpose and highlight antiques in their homes. She carries a wonderful selection of furniture, kitchenware, primitives, collectibles and antique jewelry – everything from Pflueger fly reels to Victorian Lace! If you are looking for something particular, chances are she has it or she can find it for you!
Pam and Janice first met as vendors at White Cactus Co. – a business that started in the very same space their brick and mortar shop now stands. Together they have been able to paint a vision that compliments each of their strengths, and that allows them to be deeply involved in the East Mountain community of New Mexico and beyond. Now, expanding to an online store, they are so excited to be able to create opportunities to get to know YOU! To help you create your dream home, your perfect DIY, or find the perfect piece you have been looking for!
Welcome in! We are so excited you are here. Take a look around, and come back soon!
The BackRoads Classroom
At BackRoads, we not only are passionate about finding, repurposing, and revamping pieces FOR you – but we also are so passionate about teaching you how to do it yourself! We offer two different avenues for learning – in-person classes and paint kits to do at home!
Our classes are taught by Pam in The BackRoads Classroom. Anything from patina painting, milk paint, chalk point, or stain to using appliques, learning to utilize stencils, and more. We are constantly trying to find new skills to teach and find out what YOU want to learn! You’re welcome to contact us for private classes for you or a group of friends as well!
Our painting kits vary on availability, season, and the current happenings. Each one comes with EVERYTHING you will need for the displayed project – including brushes, paint, sponges, or whatever else might be required for the circumstance. Additionally, they come with a step-by-step video produced by Pam walking you through each step!
